Biography
Vladimir Tikhomirov was born on July 11, 1921 in the village of Zaprudye (now the Melenkovsky District of the Vladimir Region ). He graduated from high school. In 1939, Tikhomirov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941 he graduated from the Kharkov Military Medical School. Since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War - in the army in force [1] .
July 28, 1941 in the battle of Nesvizh Tikhomirov was seriously wounded and was captured. On the fifth attempt, he managed to escape and get to the partisan detachment. He began to fight an ordinary machine gunner. He actively participated in all combat operations of the detachment, soon becoming the commander of a partisan cavalry group, and then the commander of a partisan cavalry detachment. At the head of his squad, Tikhomirov attacked German garrisons and separate groups of enemy soldiers and officers, undermined bridges, broke communications, and smashed motor convoys. In the summer of 1942, the detachment met with the special detachment Gradov ( Vaupshasov ) and through it established contact with the “Great Land”. The enemy has repeatedly undertaken punitive operations against the Tikhomirov detachment, but all of them ended unsuccessfully. By the end of 1942, Tikhomirov’s detachment numbered about 300 partisans. In May 1943, it was transformed into a 12th cavalry partisan brigade with about 700 partisans [1] .
In total, during its activities, the team of Tikhomirov detracted 93 trains, disabling 93 locomotives, 696 cars, tanks and platforms, undermined 2,472 meters of railroad tracks, 6 railway and 90 ordinary bridges, 8 tanks, 167 cars. In June 1944 she joined the Red Army units [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated January 1, 1944, Lieutenant-Colonel Vladimir Tikhomirov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal for “exemplary performance of command assignments in the fight against the German invaders in the enemy rear ” Star ” under number 3669 [1] .
In 1945, Tikhomirov graduated from the Military Academy named after MV Frunze . In 1946, in the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived and worked first in Ulan-Ude , and from 1948 was on party work in Minsk .
He died on June 6, 1976, and was buried in the Eastern Cemetery of Minsk [1] .
He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Patriotic War , 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
