Ivan Valeryevich Skovorodkin ( August 16, 1982 , Bobruisk ) - a Belarusian canoe-rower , played for the national team of Belarus in the early 2000s. Biography
Ivan Skovorodkin was born on August 16, 1982 in the city of Bobruisk , Mogilev region . He began to actively engage in canoeing in early childhood, was trained at the local rowing base under the guidance of coach Yu. G. Dubik. The first serious success was achieved in 2000 at the European Championship among juniors in the French city of Boulogne, having won four medals in various disciplines at once: two gold in doubles and fours at a distance of 500 meters, bronze and silver at a distance of 1000 meters in doubles and fours, respectively.
At the adult international level, Skovorodkin first made his name in the 2001 season, when he joined the main team of the Belarusian national team and began to win medals at the World Cup, in particular, at the stage in French Montesson, he took silver in two hundred and five hundred in the classification of two meters. Thanks to a series of successful performances, he won the right to defend the honor of the country at the World Championships in Poznan, Poland, along with a four-seater crew, which also included rowers Alexander Bogdanovich , Alexander Zhukovsky and Alexander Kurlandchik , won a silver medal in kilometer discipline, having passed only the Hungarian team ahead [1] .
In 2002, Ivan Skovorodkin remained in the national team of Belarus and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, with a double canoe at a half-kilometer distance, he won at the World Cup stage in the Belgian Mechelen, and also took silver and bronze at a kilometer, in twos and fours. At the stage of the World Cup in Poznan he was the best in one thousand and fours, received silver and bronze medals at five hundred meters, in two and four. Twice became the silver medalist of the Duisburg regatta in Germany, in the standings of four-seater canoes at distances of 500 and 1000 meters. In 2003, at the World Cup stage in the Croatian Zagreb, together with team-mate Vladimir Merinov, he won bronze medals at five hundred and two hundred meters. Shortly after these competitions, he decided to end his career as a professional athlete. For outstanding sports achievements he was awarded the title of master of sports of international class [2] .
He has higher education, graduated from Belarusian State University of Physical Education . He was an athlete-instructor at the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of Belarus [3] .
