South Asia : India (Kashmir), at altitudes of 2000-2700 m [1] .

Description

Small yellowish-brown ants about 5 mm long with long spines of metathorax. The stalk between the breast and the abdomen consists of two segments: the petiolus and the postpetiolus (the latter is clearly separated from the abdomen), the sting is developed, the pupae are bare (without cocoon ). Anthills in the ground and under stones [1] .

Systematics

Close to Myrmica smythiesii and species of the Myrmica smythiesii group. The species was first described in 1904 by the Swiss myrmecologist Auguste Trout as the Myrmica smythiesii variety under the original name Myrmica smythiesii var. fortior Forel, 1904 [1] [2] [3] [4] .
