Biography
Born in Nevel in the family of Aron Leibovich Gutkin and Hana Kusielevna Katsova. In 1910 he graduated from the Nevelskoye city school, in 1912 he moved to Petrozavodsk. In 1914, after graduating from the Petrozavodsk feldsher-obstetric school with honors, he worked as a feldsher of a county zemstvo, a feldsher of the Murmansk Railway.
In 1927 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Medical Knowledge , worked as a surgeon, obstetrician-gynecologist, head of the obstetric and gynecological department of the Petrozavodsk Central City Hospital (now the Petrozavodsk City Emergency Hospital).
During the Great Patriotic War - major of the medical service, head of the surgical department of the White Sea evacuation hospital.
Since 1945, he was the chief physician of the Petrozavodsk Maternity Hospital No. 1; since 1949, he was the chief obstetrician-gynecologist at the Ministry of Health of the Karelian-Finnish SSR.
Since 1963, he was the first head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology organized at Petrozavodsk State University , candidate of medical sciences (1941), associate professor (1965), author of more than 30 scientific papers on obstetrics and gynecology.
