The first country boxing champion from Astrakhan. In 1951, speaking in a weight of up to 51 kg, Usmanov took 3rd place in the All-Union Championship, and a year later he won a gold medal, becoming the strongest boxer of the USSR in the weight category up to 54 kg. Only an injury prevented him from participating in the boxing tournament at the Helsinki Olympics , which took place from July 28 to August 2, 1952. Usmanov also took 1st place in the championships of the RSFSR in 1951, 1952, 1955 and was the winner of the championship of the Soviet Army in 1953. During his sports career, he spent 113 fights, in 101 of which he emerged victorious.
