Camponotus werthi (lat.) - species of ant- tree species of the genus Camponotus . The only representative of the ant family found in the Antarctic zoogeographical region [1] .

Endemic of Kerguelen Island [1] .
Description
Length about 5 mm. Body color is black, antennae are dark brown, paws from yellowish brown to brownish black. The head and abdomen are smooth and shiny, the hairs on the body are rare. Antennae and legs without long hairs. The species was first described in 1908 by the Swiss Mirmecologist Auguste Forel ( Auguste-Henri Forel , 1848-1931) and named after Dr. Werth, in the island house of which the type series was found [1] . In 1914, O. Trout incorporated the species into the subgenus Camponotus (Myrmoturba) [2] , and in 1925 the Italian myrmecologist Karl Emery transferred it to the subgenus Camponotus (Tanaemyrmex) [3] .
