The Miriam Helin International Vocal Competition ( Finnish. Kansainvälinen Mirjam Helin -laulukilpailu ) is one of the most prestigious international competitions for young vocalists [1] held in the capital of Finland , Helsinki .
History
The competition, named after the famous Finnish opera singer and professor of the Sibelius Academy Miriam Helin [2] , was established in 1984 and is held with the assistance of the Cultural Fund of Finland every five years in a nomination for men and women [3] .
The youngest winner of the competition was the 19-year-old Russian woman Julia Lezhneva , who won first place in 2009.
