Women's World Basketball Championship 1975

The 1975 Women's World Basketball Championship was held in Colombia from September 23 to October 4 in 3 cities of Bogota , Cali and Bucaramanga . It was the 7th tournament in a row and the 5th tournament held in South America. The championship was attended by 13 teams. The winner was the USSR women's basketball team according to the results of group final games. This is the fifth world title in a row. The USSR women's basketball team has not lost at these championships since 1957 . In addition, she won 40 games in a row in the world championships.

Format

The format of the tournament has not changed.

  • Qualifying group tournament (3 groups of 4 teams) to determine 6 (six) finalists. The exception with the previous tournament was that the results of the qualifying tournament games were taken into account in the final tournament.
  • The finalists and the host of the championship in the group tournament determined the winners (taking into account the results of the games between the rivals who played in the qualifying tournament). The losers in the qualifying tournament in the qualification held the game for 8-12 places.
