Biography
Vladimir Petrovich Kononov was born in 1974 in the city of Gorskoye in the Luhansk region.
In 1995 he graduated from the Slavic Aviation College of Civil Aviation.
In 1999 he graduated from the Slavic State Pedagogical Institute .
Professionally engaged in sports and educational activities, worked as a trainer in the Judo Federation of Donetsk region [7] . Has a coaching experience in judo for 20 years. He underwent special training of senior command staff.
April 13, 2014 he volunteered for the Donbass people's militia , led a checkpoint in Slavyansk . He commanded the unit in the battles in Slavyansk , Shakhtyorsk , Ilovaysk , Mospino and other settlements. Military rank (as of August 2014) - lieutenant colonel [3] .
After the resignation of Igor Strelkov, he was the acting Minister of Defense of the DPR. Since August 14, 2014 - Minister of Defense of the Donetsk People’s Republic .
For military merits awarded the highest awards of the Ministry of Defense of the DPR.
Married, has a child [3] . The younger brother is one of the commanders of the militia of the DPR.

The fighting was a whole week, commanded by the Tsar - Kononov. Therefore, I supported his candidacy for the post of Minister of Defense - as a battalion commander, he showed himself very well. He had a reinforced battalion. Four Slavic companies, my company of the military police, the Oplot armored group, batteries ... He maneuvered normally with all this. He knocked out the 25th brigade , defeated it with fairly small losses on its part [8] .
