History
EFNSC was founded on December 2, 1978 in the province of Kratieh , on the border with Vietnam . The founding congress was attended by seventy Cambodian dissidents who set themselves the task of overthrowing the Pol Pot regime. The chairman of the new organization was Heng Samrin . Within a few weeks, the influence of the organization spread widely to the border areas [2] . EFNSK became the main military-political organization that supported the Vietnamese authorities and legitimized the Vietnamese intervention in Cambodia. The consequence of this cooperation was the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime and the creation of a new state - the People's Republic of Kampuchea . Subsequently, the organization has repeatedly changed its name, adapted to various historical realities in Cambodia.
The Central Committee of the EFNSC consisted of 15 members, where Heng Samrin was the chairman, Chea Sim - the vice-president, Ros Samai - the general secretary. Two years after the liberation of Phnom Penh, in 1981 , the organization was renamed the United Front of National Construction and Defense of Kampuchea ( French Front d'union pour l'édification et la défense de la patrie du Cambodge - UFCDK ) [3] . In subsequent years, the organization played an important role in the political life of the country, and its status was defined in the constitution of the NRC.
