Festuca staroplaninica

Festuca staroplaninica (lat.) Is a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Ovsyanitsa ( Festuca ) of the family Cereals ( Poaceae ) [2] . The plant was first described by the Bulgarian botanist V. Velchev in 2002 [3] [4] .

Distribution Description

Endemic to Bulgaria [4] , common in the central Balkan mountains [5] . A typical specimen was assembled in 1987 and described from Mount Kozya-Stena , from a site at an altitude of 1640 m [6] [7] .

Hemicryptophyte [4] . Perennial plant growing in a dense group. The stem is erect, 40-80 cm long. A sheet 0.5-0.9 mm wide, filiform. Inflorescence is an oblong panicle 5-14 cm in length. Flowers 4.2–7 mm in size, 4–8 on each plant [8] .
