Carl Robert ( German: Carl Georg Ludwig Theodor Herwig Joseph Robert ; March 8, 1850 , Marburg - January 17, 1922 , Halle ) - German classical philologist and archaeologist , teacher. He began the study of classical philology and archeology at the University of Bonn under the guidance of Otto Jan , Reinhard Kekule and Anton Springer . In 1870 he volunteered for the Franco-Prussian War .
