Liaoxyela antiqua (lat.) - A fossil species of sawflies of the genus Liaoxyela from the Xyelidae family. One of the oldest representatives of the hymenoptera . Found in Jurassic fossils (northeast of China , Liaoning province, Huangbanjigou, Shangyuan Town, Yixian Formation , Barremian stage , about 125 Ma). Body length 9.2 mm, front wing length 6.4 mm. The species Liaoxyela antiqua was first described in 2000 by Chinese entomologists H. Zhang and J. Zhang (HC Zhang, JF Zhang, China ) together with the species Angaridyela endemica , A. robusta , A. suspecta , A. exculpta , Ceratoxyela decorosa , Heteroxyela ignota , Lethoxyela excurva , L. vulgata , Isoxyela rudis , Sinoxyela viriosa . Included in the genus Liaoxyela and tribe Angaridyelini ( Macroxyelinae ). Sister taxa: Angaridyela , Baissoxyela , Ceratoxyela , Lethoxyela , Nigrimonticola , Ophthalmoxyela [1] . One of the oldest sawfly species along with species such as Potrerilloxyela menendezi , Ferganoxyela sogdiana , Triassoxyela kirgizica , T. foveolata [2] [3] .
