Volchetsky, Alexander Evgenievich

Alexander Evgenievich Volchetsky ( July 13, 1985 , Minsk ) is a Belarusian canoe-rower , has been playing for the national team of Belarus since 2005. Five-time world champion, six times European champion, multiple winner of republican and youth regattas, World Cup stages. At the competition represents the city of Minsk, Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus.

Biography

Alexander Volchetsky was born on July 13, 1985 in Minsk . He studied at secondary school No. 81, began to actively engage in canoeing at the age of twelve on the advice of a classmate. He underwent training in the Minsk specialized youth sports school of the Olympic reserve under the guidance of coach Vladimir Vasilyevich Vedikhin, also studied at the Minsk State School of Higher Sports Excellence, was in the Armed Forces Sports Club. The first serious success was achieved in 2002, when together with Dmitry Ryabchenko , the future long-term partner, he won the European Youth Championship [1] .

At the adult international level, Volchecki first made his name in the 2005 season, becoming the silver medalist at the world championships in Croatian Zagreb, in the canoe foursome course at half a kilometer distance. A year later, he took gold and silver at the European Championships in Czech Račice, in fours at two hundred and a thousand meters, and later mined gold and silver at the world championship in Hungarian Szeged, in fours at two hundred and five hundred meters. A year later he won silver and gold medals at the European Championships in the Spanish Pontevedra, in four-seater kayak races at 200 and 1000 meters, in addition, he was third at the World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, in four at a sprint distance of two hundred meters. According to the results of the season, he was awarded the honorary title “ Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Belarus ” for outstanding sports achievements [2] . In 2008 he received bronze and gold at the championship of the continent in Milan, in the usual discipline of S-4 1000 m.

In 2009, Alexander Volchetsky continued to perform at the highest level, in four won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Brandenburg, Germany, then twice became the champion of the world championship in Canadian Dartmouth, ahead of all rivals in two hundred and a thousand meters. The following season, he won three medals at the European Championship in Spanish Trasona: bronze in twos for 200 and 500 m, silver in four for 1000 m. At the same time at the World Championships in Polish Poznan he defended the championship title in the four-kilometer race. At the European Championship in 2011 in Serbian Belgrade was the second among double crews at a half-kilometer distance and among four-seaters per kilometer, and later at the World Championships in Szeged it became a bronze and gold medalist, in fours at two hundred and one thousand meters. The European Championship of 2012 held no less successful, added to the track record gold and silver competitions in Zagreb, taking second and first place in the races of doubles at 200 m and four at 1000 m. In twos he tried to qualify for the Olympic Games in London, but here he was beaten by his brothers Alexander and Andrei Bogdanovich , the reigning Olympic champions who eventually became silver medalists at this Olympics.

After the London Olympics, Volchetsky remained in the main team of the Belarusian national team and continued to take part in major international regattas. So, in 2013, he won the silver and gold medals at the European Championships in the Portuguese city of Montemor-u-Velho, in twos at two hundred meters and in fours per thousand, respectively. In the same disciplines he received bronze and silver at the World Championships in Duisburg. He also conducted the 2014 season successfully, replenishing the medal collection with gold from the European championship in Brandenburg and silver from the world championship in Moscow — both won medals in his favorite discipline C-4 1000 m [3] .

He has a higher education, in 2009 he graduated from the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture . Married, has a daughter Ksenia.
