Biography
The second son of the colonel and subcommittee of Bratslav , Prince Stefan (Stepan) Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky (d. 1648 ), and Anna Bokiy (d. 1612 ). The elder brother of the Kashtelyan of Minsk , Prince Nikolai Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky (d. 1659 ).
Representative of the princely line of Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky on the New Quarter. Since 1623 he was in military service. A participant in the military campaigns of the last years of the reign of Sigismund III Vasa and the beginning of the reign of Vladislav IV . In the beginning he served as a comrade , then lieutenant and captain in a crown Cossack gonfalon.
In 1630, during the Cossack revolt under the leadership of Taras, Prince Ilya Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky trembled and was seriously wounded during the siege of the Cossack camp near Pereyaslav .
In 1635, during the mobilization of the Polish army against Sweden, Ilya Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky brought his own Cossack horse banner to the camp. In 1638, after the defeat of the Cossack rebellion under the leadership of J. Ostryanin and D. Guni, the prince was one of the members of the Polish commission, which on December 4, 1638 in Maslovy Stava finally completed the reorganization of the registered Cossacks.
He was elected ambassador to the Sejm and deputy of the Radom tribunal. He rendered monetary support to Orthodox churches.
On November 6, 1640, Prince Ilya Svyatopolk-Chetvertinsky died and was buried in the Orthodox Church in Lublin .
