Geography

The village is located on the northeast shore of Lake Galich . [2] [3]

History

According to the Lists of Populated Places of the Russian Empire in 1872, the village of Byki (Podol) belonged to the 1st camp of the Galich district of the Kostroma province . It consisted of 33 courtyard , lived 78 men and 119 women. [2]

According to the 1897 census , 248 people lived in the village (93 men and 155 women). [3]

According to the List of Populated Places of the Kostroma Province in 1907, the village belonged to the Voznesensk Volost of the Galich District of the Kostroma Province . According to the volost administration for 1907 there were 51 peasant households and 243 inhabitants. In the village there was a locksmith. The main occupations of the villagers, in addition to farming, were painting and carpentry, agricultural work. [3]

Before the municipal reform of 2010, the village was part of the Toltunovsky rural settlement. [4] [5]
