Competitions

In terms of the results shown, the Russian Indoor Championship 2006 became one of the best in history. It broke two world records , one highest world achievement, showed the seven best results in the history of the national championship and a large number of the best results of the season in the world [2] .

Tatyana Petrova became the winner of the best result in world history on an infrequently held 3000 m distance with obstacles in the room - 9.07.00, thus improving the previous achievement by more than 14 seconds [3] .

The new world record holder in the “smooth” 3000-meter race was Lilia Shobukhova - 8.27.86. The athlete improved her personal record in the room by 19 seconds and even exceeded her best time at this distance in the open air (8.34.85). The silver medalist, Olesya Rawieva , also ran faster than the previous world record [4] .

The sharpest struggle unfolded at a distance of 1500 meters for women. From the very beginning, a high tempo was set, with Elena Canales , Yulia Chizhenko and Elena Soboleva taking the lead. These athletes in the end and played each other medals. The final acceleration of Sobolev’s acceleration in the fight for victory was slightly more than a lap to the finish line, bringing a new world record to her in addition to gold - 3.58.28, which is 1.70 seconds faster than the previous one [5] .

Russia's record among young people (under 23) in the shot put was set by Anton Lyuboslavsky - 20.75 m, with this result he became the country's champion for the first time in his career [6] .

Four participants took 2.32 m and higher in the men's high jump , and Andrei Tereshin became the winner with the best result in the history of the Russian indoor championships - 2.36 m [7] .

For a clear advantage, 60 meters was won by Andrey Yepishin , who confirmed his excellent readiness in the 2006 season.

For the second time in her career, out of 50 seconds in a 400-meter run, Natalia Nazarova “ran out” in the room - 49.98, which is only 0.3 seconds worse than her record in Russia , set two years earlier. This result was the best in the world ranking of the season [8] , the seventh in world history and the second in the XXI century [9] .

Just 0.04 seconds was not enough for Russia's champion at a distance of 800 meters to Olga Kotlyarova , who set the best result of the season in the world - 1.57.51 [10] .
