Mount Bierstadt is part of the Forward Range , which is part of the Rocky Mountains . The height of Birstadt above sea level is 4287 meters, the relative height is 213 meters. The mountain got its name in honor of the American artist Albert Birstadt , who first conquered it in 1863 in search of new scenes for his landscapes. However, on the slopes of the mountain several small mines were discovered, created in the middle of the XIX century by unknown prospectors [2] .
Due to its small relative height, Birstadt is considered an easy mountain to climb, and since it is located not far (about 60 km in a straight line) from the state capital, Denver , it never lacks tourists [2] . Like most Colorado peaks, July and August are considered the best months to climb Bierstadt. The shortest and most convenient way to climb lies through the western slope, notable for a significant number of tours . After the conquest of Birstadt, many tourists go along the semicircular toothed ridge [3] to conquer the nearby summit of Evans , bypassing the valley with Lake Ebiss, which lies between these mountains.
In 1934, Bierstadt was conquered by skiing: it is believed that this was first done in this way [2] .
