The administrative center is the city of Gudermes .

Geography

Gudermes district is located in the eastern part of the Chechen Republic. The relief is predominantly flat, in the southern part a low Gudermes (Kachkalykovsky) ridge rises.

It borders in the north with the Shelkovsky district , in the east with the Khasavyurt district and in the southeast with the Novolaksky district of the Republic of Dagestan , in the south-east with the Nozhai-Yurt district , in the south with the Kurchaloyevsky district , in the southwest with the Shali district and in the west with Grozny district .

Many rivers flow through the territory of the region, the largest of which are Gums (Belka) , Dzhalka (Black) , Sunzha and Terek .

History

The Gudermes district was formed by a resolution of the Chechen regional executive committee in March 1922, by separating it from the Vedeno district as an independent unit. By resolution of the Chechen Regional Revolutionary Committee on January 23, 1923, the Gudermes district was renamed the Gudermes District, with its center in the village of Gudermes [4] .

Decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee on September 30, 1931, the Gudermes district was renamed back to the Gudermes region, which on January 15, 1934 entered the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Region, as part of the village councils - Azamat-Yurtovsky, Alleroevsky, Bachi-Yurtovsky, Gerzel-Aulsky, Gudermessky, Dzhugursky, Dzhuguressky, Dzhuguressky, Dzhuguressky, Isti-Sunsky, Ishkhoi-Yurtovsky, Kadi-Yurtovsky, Koshkeldinsky, Kurchaloevsky, Mayrtupsky, Neuberdinsky, Oisurgunsky, Tsentaroevsky, Eleshan-Yurtovsky, Engel-Yurtovsky, Daut-Yurtovsky and Bragunsky.

On August 1, 1934, the All-Russian Central Executive Committee decided to "form a new Grozny district with a center in the city of Grozny in the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Region , including in its borders: d) the village of New Yurt of the Gudermes District" [5] .

January 23, 1935 by the Decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Region, part of the territory of the Gudermes region was transferred to the newly formed Kurchaloevsky region .

Since September 2011, in the Gudermes district there have been 21 settlements, consisting of one urban and 20 rural settlements [18] [19] :

Law of the Chechen Republic dated May 5, 2015 No. 16-РЗ [20] , from a part of the Gudermes city settlement , a new municipality was singled out - Novo-Benoisky rural settlement with an administrative center in the village of New Benoy .

Transport
