Yacht

Yakhtan ( taj. Yakhtan ) is a village located in the Ganchinsky district of the Sogd region of Tajikistan . It is part of the Yakhtan jamoat, formed in 1930 from eight villages of Kizili, Kiigir, Dashtikon, Khushtori Mukhlon, Khushtiri Char, Chari Gulomkush, Dam and Yakhtan, with a total area of ​​16 850 ha. The administrative center of the jamoat is the village of Khushtori Mukhlon. The jamoat borders in the north and east with the Spitamen region , in the west with the city of Istaravshan , in the south with the Gazantaraki jamoat.

Yakhtan is one of the most developed villages of the jamoat, a settlement arose more than 1000 years ago on the Great Silk Road [1] . In 2013, Yakhtan took third place in the category “best settlement” among jamoats at the annual competition held on the eve of Tajikistan’s independence day [2] .

Famous Natives

Yakhtan - the birthplace of Hero of the Soviet Union (1944) Urumbek Yakibov , who received a high title for heroism shown during the crossing of the Dnieper [3] .

According to some media reports, the current Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Sh. Mirziyaev, was born in Yakhtan [4] .
