Biography
Economist
Pierre Carlo Padoan has a higher economic education, taught economics at the University of Rome La Sapienza , was the director of the foundation. He worked as a consultant to the World Bank , the European Commission and the ECB . From 1998 to 2001, Advisor on World Economy in the Governments of Massimo D'Alema and Giuliano Amato . From 2001 to 2005, he was the Executive Director of Italy at the IMF [1] .
On June 1, 2007, he was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the OECD , represented this organization in the financial “Big Twenty,” and on December 1, 2009 he headed the OECD Economic Department. In addition, in 2013, Padoan was appointed President of ISTAT [2] , but did not take office.
Minister of Economics and Finance
Got the portfolio of the Minister of Economy and Finance of the government , formed by Matteo Renzi , but was unable to take the oath of office with other cabinet members on February 22, 2014, as he was in Sydney at the G20 meeting as OECD Deputy Secretary General [3] , and joined position only upon return to Italy, February 24, 2016 [4] .
On December 12, 2016 he again received the portfolio of the Minister of Economy and Finance - in the Gentiloni government formed after the resignation of Matteo Renzi [5] .

Proceedings
In 1980, as part of a young team of authors led by took part in the creation of the study “Understand Prometheus ” ( Afferrare Prometeo ), which proposed a third way between Marxism and capitalism. The work was not successful and is currently completely forgotten. First gained fame in 1998, when together with and wrote a controversial brochure, “Suggestions for the Italian Economy” ( Proposte per l'economia italiana ) [7] .
Rewards
