The 6th Guards Anti-aircraft Artillery Division of the Reserve of the Main Command is a military unit of the USSR Armed Forces in the Great Patriotic War . She participated in the Lviv-Sandomierz, Upper-Silesian, Lower-Silesian, Vistula-Oder, Berlin and Prague offensive operations.

Content

History

  • Formed in the Penza region in October 1943 as the 68th anti-aircraft artillery division of the Russian State Command Committee consisting of three small-caliber anti-aircraft artillery regiments (1995, 1999, 2003) and a medium-caliber regiment (2007).
  • Until April 1944 the division was in the Moscow Military District.

Battle Path

  • The combat path of the division went through the cities: Zalishchyky, Lviv, Sanok, Sandomierz, Kielce, Petrkow, Glogau, Berlin, Prague.
  • In the 1st half of April 1944 the Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front was included in the 4th tank (from March 17, 1945) 4th Guards Tank Army . In this army and the front acted until the end of the war.
  • In July - August 1944 the division participated in the Lvov-Sandomir offensive operation, covering the army troops. In cooperation with the fighter aircraft of the 2nd Air Army, she shot down 29 enemy aircraft. For the difference in the battles during the liberation of the city of Lviv she was given the honorary title "Lviv" (August 10, 1944).
  • In January-February 1945, division units covered the army in the Sandomierz-Silesian operation. Particularly fierce battles with enemy aircraft were conducted by the personnel of the division when they were forcing the army of the Oder ( Odra ) River army.
  • When the enemy aviation group consisting of 12 fighters reflected on January 25, the heroic feat was accomplished by the commander of the 1995 anti-aircraft machine-gun launcher of the 1995 anti-aircraft artillery regiment I. Brusov during the crossing of the Oder River. After knocking down one enemy plane and being seriously wounded, the brave commander continued to fire from a machine gun at enemy aircraft and with a line of turns shot down the second fighter. In an unequal fight, Brusov died. For his feat, he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union and forever enrolled in the lists of the 431st Guards (former 1995) anti-aircraft artillery regiment.
  • For the exemplary performance of command assignments when troops crossed the army of the Oder River, the division was awarded the Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky 2nd degree (April 5, 1944).
  • In February - March 1945 she participated in the Lower Silesian and Upper Silesian offensive operations. For being shown by personnel in battles with fascist invaders, their resistance, courage, and successful performance of combat missions were transformed into the 6th Guards Anti-aircraft Artillery Division (April 4, 1945).
  • The anti-aircraft guards in the Berlin offensive fought skillfully against the enemy; within 16 days they shot down 43 enemy aircraft. For the difference in the battles during the assault by the Soviet troops of Berlin, the division was given the honorary title "Berlin" (June 4, 1945).
  • She ended the fighting in the Prague Offensive. For the exemplary performance of tasks to cover the army in this operation, the division was awarded the Order of Kutuzov 2nd degree (June 4, 1945).
  • During the period of hostilities, the division inflicted great damage to the enemy: 174 aircraft were shot down, 100 tanks and assault guns were destroyed and burned, 22 artillery and mortar batteries were destroyed and suppressed, over 4,600 were destroyed and 2,650 soldiers and officers were captured.

After the war

  • After the end of the war, the division was stationed in Czechoslovakia in the Kladno-Dube-Motychin-Svinarzice area. On May 30, 1945, as part of the troops of the 4th Guards Tank Army, the division was redeployed to the territory of Hungary, in the area of ​​the city of Keseg. At the beginning of June 1946, the division was redeployed to the Main Military Command territory of Germany (in the Soviet occupation zone, from October 7, 1949 - GDR) as part of the troops of the 4th tank army.
  • On March 20, 1958, the 6th Guards Anti-aircraft and Artillery Division was reorganized into the 138th Guards Anti-aircraft and Artillery Lviv-Berlin Order of Kutuzov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Brigade (military unit 50457). In 1960, the division returned to the territory of the USSR. By June 25, 1960, the brigade was completely withdrawn to the territory of the USSR (Tatishchevo, Privolzhsky Military District), where it was disbanded. On August 1, 1960, the brigade ceased to exist. The Battle Banner of the unit was handed over to the Central Museum of the Soviet Army, and the Order to the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
  • On December 21, 1961, the Battle Red Banner was awarded with the Kutuzov Order of the II degree and Bogdan Khmelnitsky of the II degree and a letter to it formed the missile division, which became known as the 41st Guards Missile Lviv-Berlin Order of the Kutuzov and Bogdan Khmelnitsky Division (1960–2001).
