The single remained at the top of the Billboard Hot Latin Songs American chart for three weeks in 1998. The song was a hit throughout Latin America, reaching # 1 on each country’s chart. She also became one of the most popular songs of the 90s. "Ciega, Sordomuda" remains one of Shakira's most famous songs. Since its release, the singer has performed the song more than once, and also included it in the set list of The Sun Comes Out World Tour .
