Early years

Bob Hassmiller was born December 17, 1916 in the city of New York ( New York State ). In 1939 he graduated from Fordham University , where for three years he played for the Fordham Rams team, in which he had a successful career. Under Hassmiller, the Rams have never won a regular championship or a tournament at the Metropolitan New York conference , and have never reached the playoffs of the US student championship [1] [2] [3] . In the 1938/1939 season, Bob, in the rank of captain of the team, became not only her best sniper, but also the entire conference, following which he was included in the 2nd All-American NCAA team [4] .

Professional career

He played as an attacking defender . In 1939, Bob Hassmiller entered into an agreement with the Acron Firestone Non-Skids team in the National Basketball League (NBL) . He later played for the Toledo Jim White Chevroletts (NBL) team. In total, the NBL spent 3 incomplete seasons. In the 1939–1940 season, Hassmiller, as a teammate of Paul Nowak , Howard Cable , Jerry Bush , Jack Ozburn and John Moire, won the championship title with Akron Firestone Non-Skids. [5] In total, during his career in the NBL, Bob played 49 games in which he scored 191 points (an average of 3.9 per game) [6] . In addition, Hassmiller as part of Firestone Non-Skids and Jim White Chevrolets three times participated in the World Professional Basketball Tournament , but without much success.

Death

During World War II, Hassmiller had to interrupt his athletic career for three years (1942-1945), after which he decided not to resume it. Bob Hassmiller died in September 1980 at the 64th year of his life in the city of New York ( New York State ).
