Biography
Maria Kazakova was born on July 2, 1988 in Moscow . In childhood, she was fond of martial arts, including judo, taekwondo, karate, but in the end she made the choice in favor of canoeing. She began to be actively engaged at the age of thirteen, she was trained on the Krylatskoye rowing channel under the guidance of coaches Olga Mizonova and Vladimir Marchenko. Since the women's canoe did not develop at that time and had no prospects, in 2007 she interrupted her sports career: she worked as a sales assistant in a tourist store, then she was a hairdresser [1] .
When in 2009 women's canoe was included in the program of the World Championships, Kazakova returned to the national team and successfully performed at the world championship in Canadian Dartmouth, in particular, she won a bronze medal among singles at a distance of 500 meters [2] . A year later, she visited the World Championships in Poznan, Poland, from where she brought bronze and silver dignity awards, won alone at a two-hundred-meter distance and in doubles at a half-kilometer (paired with Ekaterina Petrova ), respectively. A year later, she took silver at the World Championships in Szeged, Hungary and gold at the European Championships in Serbian Belgrade - both medals in the standings of single canoes in 200-meter races.
In 2013, at the European Championships in the Portuguese city of Montemor-o-Velho, Kazakova again became a champion, having defeated all rivals in her favorite sprint discipline S-1 200 m. She also holds the 2014 season at the highest level, was among the winners at the World Cup [3] [4]
