Jean-Baptiste de Jonge (January 8, 1785 - October 14, 1844) is a Belgian landscape painter.

Biography
Born in Kortrijk . He received his first lessons at the Kortrijk Academy, where he studied for two years. His painting teacher was sculptor Peter Van Reible. He then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp, where his teacher was animal painter and landscape painter Balthazar Powell Omemegank. He embarked on a journey traditional for young educated Europeans of the 18-19th centuries . Visited the Netherlands , France and England . He participated in various art competitions in Northern France and Belgium. He eventually settled in Brussels , where he had students and followers, such as Jean Baptiste Davelos and Luis Pierre Vervi. During his lifetime, the masters of his work exhibited in Paris, Lyon , Brussels, Amsterdam, The Hague, Vienna, for which he received numerous medals. Died in Antwerp .
