Ming pao group

Ming Pao Group is one of the largest publishing groups in Hong Kong . Through a subsidiary of Ming Pao Newspapers Limited, part of Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation (listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1991), publishes the popular Hong Kong Chinese-language newspaper Ming Pao (明 報 or Ming Pao Daily News) and its versions in China , Taiwan and Canada (newspapers published in the United States ceased publication in 2009) [1] [2] [3] [4] . The headquarters is located in Chaiwan District, Eastern District [5] [6] .

The group includes the book publisher Ming Pao Publications . The sister company One Media Group , also part of Media Chinese International , publishes in Hong Kong the Chinese-language magazines Ming Pao Weekly , TopGear Hong Kong , MING Watch , Hong Kong Voyage and Travel Planner , as well as the Chinese-language magazines TopGear and Popular Science in China [7] [8] [9] .

History

Ming Pao began publishing in 1959 thanks to writer Luis Cha . In 1995, the newspaper was acquired by a Malay businessman of Chinese origin Tiong Hiew King, the founder and head of the Rimbunan Hijau Group (in the same year, Ming Pao had its own web page). In 2008, Ming Pao Enterprise Corporation Limited (Hong Kong), Sin Chew Media Corporation Berhad (Malaysia) and Nanyang Press Holdings Berhad (Malaysia) merged into a single media group, Media Chinese International. In addition, Media Chinese International is a major shareholder in Hong Kong magazine One Media Group [10] [11] [12] .
