Purple oligodon [1] ( lat. Oligodon purpurascens ) - a species of snakes from the family of the antarctica .

The total length is 90 cm. The body color is brown with dark saddle spots bordered with black. The edges of the scales, especially on the sides of the body, are often emphasized in red or dark brown, due to which the color becomes very variegated. Sometimes faint smoky streaks can stretch along the spine. On the head there is a pronounced characteristic dark transverse “mask” that extends from the edge of the upper jaw through the eye. Sometimes its back merges with a triangular spot on the neck.
It lives in primary and secondary rainforests. Often kept near human settlements. It occurs at an altitude of up to 1600 meters above sea level. Active at dusk and at night, during the day hides under the stones, trunks of fallen trees and snags. It feeds on eggs of birds and reptiles.
Oviparous snake. The female lays 8-13 eggs.
The species is common in Indonesia, Malaysia , Singapore , Thailand and southern China .
