Khevischala ( cargo. ხევისჭალა ) is a village located in the Akhmeta municipality of the Kakheti region of Georgia . Khevischala is located in the Alazani river valley, at an altitude of 720 meters above sea level , 10 km from the center of the municipality .

Khevischala village is one of the 30 resort areas of Kakheti, for which tourism development is a promising direction. The main occupation of the population is agriculture , including viticulture [3] .

In the village of Khevischala is the Kachalauri fortress , as well as a church dating from the 10th century [4] .
Village related events
According to Russian media , in the village of Khevischala, in the early 2000s there was one of the camps of the Chechen separatists , equipped, inter alia, with satellite communications . Residents of the village were involved as hostages in several incidents involving militants [5] .
In 2012, the supply of electricity to the village of Khevischala was resumed, which had been absent since 1991 [6] .
