Social Self-Activist
Born into a peasant family. He entered the University of Warsaw , graduated from the Faculty of Physics in 1970 . In 1977 he graduated from the graduate school of the Polytechnic University . He worked as an electrical engineer at the Tewa semiconductor element factory .
Henryk Wuez was an opponent of the Communist regime of Poland . At the age of 22, he joined the opposition movement, joining the Warsaw Club of the Catholic intelligentsia . In the summer of 1976 he helped workers who were subjected to reprisals for participating in a strike at the Ursus plant. Then he became one of the founders of the Committee for the Protection of Workers .
This idea was fully realized in July 1976, when regular workers' strikes in the cities of Ursus and Radom were suppressed. Many workers were put on trial; they were facing up to 10 years in prison. And then we said that we would go to these court hearings to show the workers: they are not alone.
At first, we were treated with suspicion, the workers and their relatives had difficulty believing that someone wanted to help them. Meanwhile, we made a long list of persecuted people and began to raise money for them. We took this money to the families of the workers. All this was done openly, our phones and addresses were known to everyone. We published articles, well-known people signed under our appeal in defense of the workers. In fact, it was an open opposition, and security officials knew very well what we were doing. But I think that at that moment they simply neglected us.
And then a year passed, and public pressure led to the fact that the government was forced to release all the arrested workers. Thanks to this victory, thousands of people became active all over Poland, who realized that there was still an opportunity to claim their rights.
Henryk Wuez [2]
He was one of the ideologists and organizers of social self-defense actions. Edited the underground journal Robotnik . He participated in the creation of illegal free trade unions.
Figurine of Solidarity
In 1980, Henryk Wuez entered Solidarity . He was a member of the All-Polish Commission and one of the leading experts of the union. In general, he shared the position of Jacek Kuroń .
On December 13, 1981, Vuec was interned by the military . Released in September 1982 . Re-arrested in 1984 , released and remanded in custody in June-September 1986 . It was assumed that Vuets - along with Jacek Kuron, Karol Modzelewski , Adam Michnik , Zbigniew Romaszewski , Andrzej Gvazda , Jan Rulewski , Marian Yurchik , Severin Yavorsky , Grzhegozh Palka , Andrzej Rozplochowski [3] - will become the defendant of the anti-political political process ” . However, the authorities had to abandon this plan under the threat of mass protests. Wuec, like other opposition members, resolutely rejected the offer to emigrate.
After his release, Vuec worked at the Standardization Research Center.
In 1987 , when the full-scale reconstruction of the Solidarity structures began, Henrik Vuets became a member of the Civil Movement Committee. In 1988 - 1990, Vuec was the secretary of the leader of Solidarity, Lech Walesa , chairman of the Civil Committee. In the spring of 1989, Henrik Vuec participated in the Round Table . He sat in the section dealing with trade union pluralism.
Liberal Politician
In Parliament and Parties
In the “semi-free” parliamentary elections of 1989, Henryk Vuets was elected as a deputy of the Sejm on the list of the Civil Committee of Solidarity. Three times he was re-elected to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in free elections - in 1991 , 1993 , 1997 . Belonged to the liberal wing of "post-Solidarity" - supporters of Jacek Kuroń, Tadeusz Mazowiecki , Adam Michnik, Zbigniew Buyak . He participated in the creation of the parties ROAD , Democratic Union , Union of Liberty . He was a member of the parliamentary committees on agriculture and finance. In 1999 - 2000, he served as Secretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture in the government of Jerzy Buzek .
In the 2001 election, the Union of Freedom lost representation in the Sejm. Henrik Wuez engaged in social activities. He worked in the Society for Social and Economic Investments, was on the advisory board of the Polish Union of Journalists. In 2005 he joined the Social Liberal Democratic Party - demokraci.pl . He left it in 2006 due to the rapprochement of the party with the “post-PORP” .
In 2006, Henryk Wuiec was awarded the Order of the Renaissance of Poland .
Advisor to President Komorowski
In the 2010 presidential election, Henryk Wuiec supported Bronislaw Komorowski, the candidate for the right-wing liberal Civil Platform . After Komorowski was elected head of state, Vuets became his adviser. Advised on a number of political issues.
He was actively engaged in the disclosure of archives of the last years of the existence of the NDP (the period causing acute controversy among veterans of Solidarity). He is a member of the International Council of Auschwitz and the Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation - public organizations engaged in preserving historical memory and maintaining memorials in former Nazi concentration camps.

Family
The wife of Henryk Vuec - Ludwik Vuec - is Jewish by nationality, a convinced communist in her youth, and for a long time she was in the PUWP .
They came from different worlds. On the one hand - Jewish, communist, atheistic . On the other - Polish, rural, Catholic [7] .
Ludwika Vuets and her husband went all his socio-political path. She was a member of the same underground organizations of the NDP and the legal parties of the Third Commonwealth , was awarded the same order, and also supported the candidacy of Komorowski in 2010. The only noticeable difference: Henryk Vuec was a deputy of the Sejm, Ludwika Vuec was a municipal councilor in Warsaw .
In 2011, Ludvika Vuets was prosecuted for allegedly receiving a bribe from the Budimex Soft IT company in the mid-1990s for favoring a tender for computerization [8] . It was not possible to prove the accusation Henrik Vuets considered the prosecution of his wife to be an action of anti-Semitic circles. A significant part of the Polish public agreed with this assessment.
The son of Henrik Vuets - Pavel Vuets - worked in the publication of Adam Michnik Gazeta Wyborcza , then in the information and publishing holding Agora (this structure is also headed by Michnik, the company is owned by Gazeta Wyborcza).
Interesting Facts

He motivated his position by the fact that the holiday of June 12 is historically associated with the fall of the USSR : “So, we also have a reason for the holiday” [9] .
