Biography
Alexey Tatarnikov was born on March 27, 1926 in the village of Streltsy (now - the Efremovsky district of the Tula region ). After graduating from six grades of school, he lived and worked in Efremov . In November 1943, Tatarnikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since September 1944 - on the fronts of World War II [1] .
By January 1945, Junior Sergeant Alexei Tatarnikov was a gunner of the 23rd Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 7th Guards Tank Corps of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front . He distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland . On January 23, 1945, Tatarnikov’s calculation crossed the Oder in the area of the Grošovice settlement (now in the Opole area ) and took an active part in the battles for capturing and holding the bridgehead on its western shore, holding out until the main forces crossed [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated April 10, 1945, Junior Sergeant Alexei Tatarnikov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal [1] .
After the war, Tatarnikov was demobilized. He lived and worked in Efremov [1] .
He was also awarded two orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree and a number of medals [1] .
