Biography
Born November 26, 1780 in Spalt.
He studied at the University of Erlangen - Nuremberg , where in 1798 he joined the student union. He later studied at Landshut University of Philosophy. Then he studied in Vienna at the Medical and Surgical Academy , where he became a doctor of medical sciences, defending a doctoral dissertation.
On April 30, April 1803, Bangold served as an officer in the rank of junior lieutenant in the garrison of Stuttgart in Württemberg. On November 5, 1806, he was promoted to lieutenant and in 1808 began to serve at the headquarters of the Quartermaster General . After being promoted to senior lieutenant on January 6, 1809, he became adjutant general at the corps of Duke Wilhelm I. He participated with him in the 1809 campaign against Austria .
May 23, 1809 was granted the rank of captain of the second class, January 1, 1812 - the captain of the first class, and September 17, 1812 - the majors .
During Napoleon's invasion of Russia, Bangold in 1813 was the chief of staff of the Württemberg troops, who, during the battle of peoples at Leipzig, switched to the side of the alliance. On November 17, 1813 he received the rank of lieutenant colonel , and after the Battle of Brienne on February 8, 1814, he became colonel .
In 1821, Joseph Conrad Bangold became assistant to the King of Württemberg and head of the Ministry of Defense. By appointment, Major General September 26, 1822, he commanded the 3rd Infantry Brigade.
In 1828 he became Governor of Heilbronn , in 1830 - Quartermaster General , and in 1838 - Lieutenant General , Commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Governor of Stuttgart .
In 1842, Joseph Conrad Bangold retired. The author of memoirs and notes currently stored in the Stuttgart archive.
He died on March 27, 1851 in Cannstat (now Bad Cannstat).
