Paid Broadcasts in the United States
The first TV channel to experience PPV paid service in 1951 was The Zenith Phonevision. The system used an IBM descrambled signal during the “idle” time of the broadcast station and provided round-the-clock broadcasting. The Federal Communications Commission refused the channel to implement the system.
In 1972, the first paid broadcast channel "100" was created in San Diego, California.
The first boxing match, broadcast through the PPV paid service, was the third fight between Mohammed Ali and Joe Frazier , called the “ Thriller in Manila ”, which took place in September 1975. The next major boxing PPV event was the bout between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran in September 1980. The cost of the broadcast was $ 10 with a total number of purchases - 155,000.
On October 16, 1983, the first PPV show of one of the matches in American football, shown by NBC, took place.
In 1985, the first paid cable providers were registered in the USA: Viewer's Choice (now In Demand), Cable Video Store, First Choice and Request TV.
The term “paid broadcasts” finally came into use in the late 1980s, when HBO and Showtime began using paid broadcasts for feature films, sports events [1] and concerts of musical performers.
ESPN later began broadcasting American football and basketball .

Wrestling Broadcast Broadcast
WWE has been broadcasting paid shows since the 1980s, when the Big Four of the show was created (Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, SummerSlam and Survivor Series). The company's PPV lineup expanded in the mid-1990s and peaked at 16 shows in 2006, but since 2012 the number of shows has been reduced to 12. WWE PPV usually has a duration of three hours, although low-cost shows (for example, In Your House) were shorter, and top-notch events like WrestleMania can go 5 hours. Since 2008, all WWE PPV are broadcast in high definition .
In the US, WWE PPVs are provided by the In Demand service. In Canada - available through the Vu! Shaw PPV and SaskTel PPV services, they are also broadcast in cinemas of the Cineplex Entertainment network. In India and South Asia, the broadcaster (now TEN Sports) generally has rights to all WWE programs, including PPV, and they are broadcast at no extra charge.
WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahn is considered by many to be one of the key figures in the history of paid broadcasts. McMain owns the domain name payperview.com, which redirects to the official WWE website.
