1897 - graduated from Yuriev University with a degree in chemistry, presenting the work “Changing the Volume of Mineral Crystals during Melting”.
Since 1898, he has been an assistant to the mineralogical cabinet at Yuryev University with the rank of college secretary.
After passing the exams for a master's degree in chemistry ( 1902 ) and defending his dissertation, he was elected a privat-docent at the Department of Chemistry of Yuryev University ( 1904 ), transferred to the post of assistant director of a chemical laboratory; since 1911 - college adviser .
1916 - After defending a dissertation on the subject of “The Effect of Pressure on the Melting Curves of Binary Mixtures,” he was awarded the Master of Chemistry degree.
Perm period (1916-1919)
In 1916, he was sent by the Ministry of Education to Perm (then to the Perm branch of the Petrograd University ).
Already in the same 1916, N. V. Kultashev became the organizer of the Department of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry, which gave rise to the two largest departments of the future Perm University - the Department of Inorganic and the Department of Analytical Chemistry [1] .
On July 1, 1917, he was appointed acting professor at Perm University .
On October 3, 1917, he was elected Dean of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Perm University . [2] On May 20, 1918, he was re-elected to this post, but remains in it for only 9 days [3] , transferring it to A. A. Richter .
On May 29, 1918, he was elected rector of Perm University and was released due to illness and in connection with his departure to Tomsk in the summer of 1919 : on June 28, 1919, he transferred the duties of the rector to A. S. Bezikovich by special order. [four]

He lectured on inorganic and physical chemistry; in March 1924 he was approved by a professor at the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. He conducted scientific research in the field of chemistry on behalf of Siburalproekt.
At the same time since October 1919 - privat-docent, then - Professor of Tomsk University in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry, Head. analytical laboratory. I taught a course in analytical chemistry to students of the natural department of the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics. [5]
Voronezh period (1924-1948)
In 1924 he moved to Voronezh , where since 1932 he headed the department of inorganic and physical chemistry of the natural department of the pedagogical faculty of Voronezh University .
During this period of time, the department begins to study the physicochemical properties of aqueous and non-aqueous solutions, the conditions of electrolytic deposition of metals, is engaged in the creation and study of finely porous metal membranes. In the late 1930s , under his leadership, the department began to conduct studies of the electrochemical and corrosion behavior of metals
In 1928 he participated in the V Mendeleev Congress , where he made reports on experimental studies.
In 1938, N.V. Kultashev was arrested along with a group of teachers from Voronezh universities by the NKVD authorities for allegedly anti-Soviet activities.
