Story
The film consists of three stories.
- "Tyrant". Ancient Egypt. Pharaoh Amenhotep is in love with the young harpist Nuri. Nuri takes advantage of this to arrange his beloved Yorab in the service of Pharaoh. Yorab falls in love with one of the wives of the pharaoh, who once saved the mother of Nuri from death. Nuri, on the one hand, is jealous, but on the other, cannot do harm to her benefactress. Soon, the pharaoh discovers treason and sentenced his wife, and Nuri takes her place.
- "Prince". Based on Hugo's play Lucretius Borgia.
- 1917 year. Hans, a student, is studying in Zurich. Using the revolution in Russia, he leads the revolutionaries to occupy the castle in his city in Germany, which is under Grodsky’s rule. Soon, Hans, intoxicated by the authorities, gives the order to execute his girlfriend Irene, who is accused of attempted assassination of a revolutionary leader. At the end of the film, Grodsky looks at Hans with contempt, and Hans sees Satan in Grodsky.
Interesting Facts
In the USSR, the film went from 1924, under the name "From the Darkness of Centuries."
The film is considered lost. Found only a small fragment lasting about a minute from the first part, in which Princess Nuri lies next to Amenhotep, and when he falls asleep, something steals from him.
