Gustave Derepa ( FR. Gustave Derepas ; August 7, 1848 - November 4, 1910 ) - French philosopher.

He studied under Joseph Gratry . He volunteered in the Franco-Prussian War . He taught philosophy, history and literature in Figeac , Soissons , Saint-Etienne , Amiens , Algeria , Toulon and, finally, in the famous Lyceum of Thiers in Marseille . Since 1908 , retired. In February 1910 , a few months before his death, he was elected to the Marseille Academy [2] .
He published the monograph “Theories of the Unknowable and the Degree of Knowledge” ( French Les théories de l'Inconnaissable et les degrés de la connaissance ; 1883) with a critical review of the views of Kant , Spinoza and Spencer .
He also published a book on pedagogy, “Music and Drawing as a Means of Education” ( Fr. La musique et le dessin considérés comme moyens d'éducation ; 1892) and one of the first essays on the life and work of César Franck ( Fr. César Franck: étude sur sa vie ; 1897), in which he insisted on a mystical understanding of his music; this last work was praised by Vincent d'Andy . With a preface by Derep, poems of Frederick Mistral were published.
