According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 1,886.299 km 2 , of which 1,881.844 km 2 are land and 4.455 km 2 or 0.240% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 10,761 residents of 4,050 households and 2,830 families live in the okrug. The population density is 6.00 people per km 2 . There are 4 609 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 2.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 94.68%, African Americans - 1.15%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.57%, Asians - 0.33%, Hawaiians - 0.04%, representatives of other races - 1.84 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.39%. Hispanics accounted for 5.61% of the population, regardless of race .
Of the total number of households , 31.20% are children under the age of 18, 59.10% of households are married couples living together, 7.20% of households are single women without a spouse, 30.10% of households households are not related to families , 27.80% of households consist of one person, 15.30% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.44 people and the average family size is 2.97 people.
