The fifth ship of the project 955 "Borey" and the second under construction under the modernized project "Borey-A".
Content
Design
A distinctive feature of the new Borey-A missile carriers is that during their construction, backlogs from previous nuclear submarine models (such as Pike-B or Antei) are not used, which allows to fully reveal the potential of the 4th generation SSBN.
Title
The submarine is named after Prince Oleg .
Ship Construction History
Initially, the launch of the missile carrier was planned for July 19, 2014, but was postponed for a week. This fact was not dictated by the desire to coincide with the laying of a new ship for the Day of the Navy of the Russian Federation.
On February 17, 2015, the Prince Oleg submarine is preparing for hydraulic tests [2] .
November 14, 2016 the hull of the boat was tested for leaks.
On November 16, 2017, the head of the USC, Aleksey Rakhmanov, announced problems with financing the construction of the “Prince Oleg” SSBN [3] .
In January 2018, it was announced that the Kolomna plant delayed the supply of a 2-28DG diesel generator for almost a year [4] .
