Berdychiv District ( Ukrainian Berdychiv District ) is an administrative unit in the south of the Zhytomyr region of Ukraine . The administrative center is the city of Berdychiv , it is not included in the district.

Geography
The area is located in the southern part of the Zhytomyr region, in the forest-steppe zone. The climate is temperate continental.
The area of forest stands is more than 10 thousand hectares.
The main rivers are rotten.
History
The administrative district was created in April 1923 as part of the Berdychiv district. At the beginning of 1930, the districts in Ukraine were liquidated, the Berdichevsky district was abolished. In February 1932, the Vinnytsia region was created, which included the Berdychiv district. Since September 1937, it has been part of the Zhytomyr Region established at the same time. In the mid-1970s, the Chudnovsky District was part of the district.
Demographics
The population of the city (as of 01.06.2005) is 93.4 thousand people. The population of the district (as of 01.01.2007) was 31.6 thousand people, including pgt. Grishkovtsy - 4,6 thousand people.
Administrative Device
The Berdychiv district consists of 62 settlements, subordinate to one township and 29 village councils. One urban-type settlement Grishkovtsy .

Culture
In the area there are 180 amateur groups, 46 libraries, 49 club institutions.
It has become a tradition to hold holidays, reviews, contests of folk art. The main center of culture of the district is the district house of creativity.
In sec. Sparklevka operate recreation camps "Birch Guy" and "Sokolyatko."
In sec. Terekhovo is a museum of classic English literature by Joseph Conrad .
A central hospital, clinic, 14 medical ambulance stations, 36 medical and obstetric centers, 8 pharmacies are available to the population.
