History

In 1878, the King of Romania, Carol I, instituted a medal “For Faithful Service” to encourage citizens. In 1906, the cross “For Faithful Service” was added to the medal as the upper class. In 1932, King Carol II approved the statute of the Order “For Faithful Service” by establishing it in four classes. Between 1940 and 1948, awards took place only with a medal. In 1948, the communist authorities of Romania banned the order among other monarchical awards of Romania. On March 31, 2000, Romanian President Ion Iliescu reinstated the order in its former meaning, adding a fifth class of Cavalera.

The order has five classes:

  • The holder of the Grand Cross is the golden badge of the order on the shoulder strap and the golden star on the left side of the chest.
  • The Grand Officer is the golden badge of the order on the neckband and the silver star on the left side of the chest.
  • Commander - a gold badge on a neckband.
  • Officer - a gold badge on the chest ribbon.
  • Cavalier - silver badge on the chest ribbon.
