Biography

Robert was born around 1287 and was the eldest son of Baron Ranulf de Neville from a marriage with Euphemia Fitz-Robert [1] .

Robert took part in the Battle of Bannockburn on June 24, 1314, during which he was captured by the Scots. In December 1318, along with his brothers, he killed Richard Fitz-Marmadyuk [1] .

In 1318, the Scots captured Berik Castle . Wanting to return him, the British launched a campaign that turned out to be unsuccessful. According to the chronicler Bridlington, on June 6, 1319, a clash between the British and the Scots occurred near the walls of Berik, as a result of which Robert was killed, and his three brothers, Ralph , Alexander and John, were captured. It is possible that the date is incorrect, since the bulk of the British army reached Berik in September, but it is also possible that this incident was not related to the main campaign [1] [2] .

Marriage

Wife: with approx. 1315 Helen , her origin is unknown. There were no children.
