Career

Belokhvostikov is a pupil of the Trans-Volga club "Motor" [1] . Before moving to Nizhny Novgorod, he played for several years in the Moscow system of “Wings of the Soviets” [2] . From the 2009/10 season, Eugene began playing for the Seagull team in the Youth Hockey League (MHL). In the first season, he spent 55 matches, in which he scored two assists. Only in the next season, the defender opened the scoring for his goals in the MHL, having thrown the puck into the gates of Riga [3] . In the seasons 2011/12 and 2012/13, Belokhvostikov showed a more productive game, gaining 19 and 27 points, respectively.

In the 2013/14 season, Belokhvostikov could no longer play in the MHL due to age. He conducted pre-season training in the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo . According to the results of pre-season tournaments, Eugene managed to gain a foothold in the “car factory” [* 1] . Belokhvostikov made his debut in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) on September 6, when Torpedo held the opening match of the season against Salavat Yulaev [4] . Eugene began to regularly go on the ice as part of Nizhny Novgorod. During the November pause in the KHL, he and four teammates were sent to play in the farm club in the VHL - “ Sarov ” [5] . In the VHL, the defender spent only 8 matches in a season. With the exception of two games, Belokhvostikov played in all Torpedo matches of the season. He also spent 7 matches in the playoffs , which, like in the regular season, he completed with a positive indicator of utility - “+1”. At the end of the season, “Torpedo” extended the contract with the defender for two years [6] .

Despite the new agreement with the club, in August 2014, Belokhvostikov, together with Alexander Makarov , exchanged Torpedo to Novokuznetsk Metallurg for a choice in the 4th and 5th rounds of the 2015 KHL draft [7] . The president of “car manufacturers” Oleg Kondrashov noted that the players would not have found a place in the “Torpedo” [8] . The defender played 35 matches for the Novokuznetsk club, in which he scored an effective pass with a utility index of “−15”. At the end of the season, “Torpedo” returned Eugene to the team, having exchanged with “Metallurg” [9] . In the offseason, the player trained as part of the “car factory”, but failed to gain a foothold in the main team. The season 2015/16 began in the VHL club “Sarov”, but after five matches held, he moved to Amur as a result of an exchange [10] .

Belokhvostikov failed to break into the Far Eastern club, and was sent to the Zvezda-VDV farm club. In this club, the defender was not able to play for a long time, as the VHL leadership excluded Zvezda-VDV from the league due to financial problems [11] . Amur did not count on Belokhvostikov after the closure of the farm club, terminating the contract with him [12] . The player did not stay without a team for a long time, already in November having concluded an agreement with the VHL club Sokol [13] .
