Metropolitan Apostolos
Biography
On August 4, 1973, he accepted monasticism at the monastery of Anastasia the Patternmaker in Chalkidiki . The next day, Metropolitan Pavel of Veria (Yannikopulos) was ordained a hierodeacon .
On September 8, 1974, he was ordained hieromonk by the Bishop of Eumenias Apostle (Dimelis) .
In November 1977, he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite.
In 1984 he graduated from the Theological Faculty of the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki .
On November 3, 1985, he was ordained as a titular bishop of Miletus and appointed abbot of the Stavropegic Anastasiinsky Monastery in Chalkidiki.
January 15, 1990 was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan .
Appointed representative of the Patriarch of Constantinople on Holy Mount Athos , also taking advantage of the unofficial title of "Bishop of the Holy Mountain" (Επισκόπου του Αγίου Όρους).
