The Ivan Franko Prize in the field of information activity ( Ukrainian Prize of Ivan Franko at the Gala Informatics ) is the Ukrainian annual literary prize , which is awarded to the authors of new original journalistic works in the field of information activity, contributing to the affirmation of the historical memory of the people, their national self-identity and aimed at strengthening statehood and democratization of Ukrainian society.
The prize has been awarded by the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee of Ukraine since 2004.
The prize is awarded annually on August 27 to the birthday of Ivan Franko , a Western Ukrainian writer, poet, publicist and leader of the revolutionary socialist movement.
The size of the prize is UAH 2000 each from the funds provided for these purposes in the state budget, which is distributed by the State Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee of Ukraine in the following categories:
- for the best publication in the print media;
- for the best work in the television field;
- for the best work in the broadcasting field;
- for the best scientific work in the information field.
The winners in different years were: E. Benkendorf , D. Kuliniak , I. Mashchenko , A. Tsaplienko , Yu. Shapoval and others.
