Cyphostigma (lat.) Is a monotype genus of monocotyledonous plants of the Ginger family ( Zingiberaceae ) [2] . Represented by a single species of Cyphostigma pulchellum [3] [4] .

The only species was first described in 1861 by George Henry Kendrick Tveits under the taxonomic name Amomum pulchellum [5] . It was transferred to the new genus in 1882 by the British botanist George Bentham [6] [7] [8] .
Endemic of Sri Lanka [9] [6] . Described from the forests of the Central Province at an altitude of 3000 meters [10] .
Herb plants with creeping rhizome. Stem short, carries several basal straight sheets. Inflorescence branched, located on a separate leafless shoot. Flowers three-lobed, pink. The fruit is a box [9] .
