The methods developed at Bihar School of Yoga are a synthesis of many approaches to personal development based on traditional Vedic, Tantric and yogic teachings in combination with modern methods of medical science. The main components include karma yoga, hatha yoga, raja yoga, jnana yoga, kriya yoga, as well as other yogis. These methods are also taught at Satyananda Yoga Academies in Australia and Colombia.
Founder Swami Satyananda left Bihar School in 1988 to become a sadhu, a wandering saint. He transferred the management of the ashram to Swami Niranjananand Saraswati , the son of one of the devotees of Satyananda, who grew up with the ashram from the age of four [1] . Since 2008, the ashram has been led by Swami Suryaprakash [2] .

Campus
The campus of the Bihar Yoga School is called the Ganga Darshan, which is built on a large hill overlooking the Ganges River . According to local legend, once on this hill stood the palace of Karna . On campus there are 5 dormitories, a 7-story building for classes, a kitchen and a library. The food on site is only vegetarian. The ashram is surrounded by a six-meter-high brick wall with barbed wire stretched over it to hold the world outside and students inside. Once passing through the giant gate, back, during training, it is possible to get out only with written permission, which must be signed by two or three swamiji [3] .
Teaching Methods
Practices of Satyananda Yoga: Asanas, Pranayama, Yoga Nidra and Mantra. A distinctive feature of the Bihar Yoga School from other areas that continue the traditions of Swami Sivananda is the inclusion of elements of Tantra. In particular, kriya (a sequence of asanas, breathing exercises, mudras and bandhas) and the awakening of prana (vital energy) through visualizations. Attention is also focused on working with kundalini and methods for cleansing the body - shatkarm [4] .
The unique technology of the Bihar school is yoga nidra (literally - a yoga dream). This is a special kind of motionless meditation in shavasana , during which the whole body is gradually relaxed, and awareness is distracted from the outside world. In this relaxed state, the mind is receptive and can free itself from unnecessary habits and aspirations [5] .
Teaching programs
Classes are held in two programs: Bihar Yoga School and Bihar Yoga Bharati (University of Yoga). The first program offers one-month teacher training courses, a 15-day yoga rehabilitation course, advanced training in tantric practices, an introductory sannyasa course, which makes it possible to live a sannyasin’s life for some time without taking vows. The second program offers:

- one-year program with a diploma;
- six biennial master steps - yoga philosophy, Sanskrit and other Indian languages, yoga psychology;
