According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 5,027.195 km 2 , of which 4,724.165 km 2 is land and 117,000 km 2 or 6.040% are water bodies.

According to the 2000 census [1] , 6,631 inhabitants live in the district as part of 2,560 households and 1,753 families . The population density is 1.00 people per km 2 . There are 3,438 residential buildings on the territory of the district, with a building density of about 1.00 per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 65.99%, African Americans - 0.09%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 29.98%, Asians - 0.21%, Hawaiians - 0.05%, representatives of other races - 0.26 %, representatives of two or more races - 3.42%. Hispanic people accounted for 1.31% of the population, regardless of race .
31.80% of the total number of households are children under the age of 18, 51.80% of households are married couples living together, 11.80% of households are single women without a spouse, 31.50% of households households are not related to families , 28.50% of households consist of one person, 14.60% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone.
