History

The Monument to the Warrior-Liberator (a full copy of the Berlin one) was erected in Sovetsk in 1956 in the center of a large round flower bed. Two sculptors (Marokhonko and Arkulis Alexander) held urgent military service in Sovetsk. At the end of the service, they decided to give the city a gift and made a copy of the monument to the Soldier-Liberator in Berlin. For permission, the city authorities turned to the famous sculptor E.V. Vuchetich, and he agreed to create a monument. It was the only copy of the legendary monument in the USSR. However, the sculpture made of cement quickly fell into disrepair. Therefore, in 1991, a new monument had to be cast - already from bronze. There is a version that it was not possible to agree on copyright with the heirs of the sculptor E.V. Vuchetich, so the new monument is not a complete copy of the Liberation Warrior in Berlin, [1] there are about ten serious differences.

Description

The monument is a 4-meter sculpture of a Soviet soldier, standing on a cylindrical pedestal and holding a little girl on his left hand, and a lowered sword in his right hand.

Differences from the Warrior-Liberator in Treptow Park

The main differences

1. The position of the head of a soldier. At the Soviet head directly, on the Berlin monument - slightly turned to the right.

2. The position of the legs. The Soviet - the right leg is advanced forward, in Berlin - the left

3. The position of the sword. The Soviet one has a sword along the body, the Berlin one has a sword in front.

4. The position of the turned swastika. In the Soviet one, the swastika is visible in the form of separate parts, in Berlin, exactly half of the swastika is visible.

5. A raincoat tent. For the Soviet one, the hood is folded up, hooked to the upper button of the tunic, the tails open the legs, for the Berlin one - the hood is raised, hooked to the button of the pocket, the tails cover the right leg.

6. Hand holding a girl. The Soviet - supports the girl, the Berlin - grabs the girl's hip.

7. The girl. The Soviet one has a barefoot girl, and her facial expression is serene, her head with a bang, and a little hand near her head. Berlin has a girl in a shoe, her eyes are anxious, her forehead is open, and a little hand is on the chest of a soldier.
