Rhynchostylis retusa (lat.) Is a species of monocotyledonous plants of the genus Rinhostilis ( Rhynchostylis ) of the Orchid family ( Orchidaceae ) [2] . It was first described in 1753 by Karl Linnaeus under the name Epidendrum retusum [3] ; the species in the Rhynchostylis genus was placed in 1825 by the German-Dutch botanist Karl Ludwig Blume [4] [5] .

Distribution, description
Distributed in forests at an altitude of 300–1500 meters in the People’s Republic of China ( Guizhou , Yunnan provinces ), Bhutan , Cambodia , India , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , Nepal , the Philippines , Sri Lanka , Thailand and Vietnam [6] .
Epiphytic [6] heat-loving plant of medium size. The leaves are curved, fleshy. The inflorescence is racemose, long, carries a large number of flowers closely spaced to each other, 2 cm each. It blooms in winter and early spring [7] .
Value
Rhynchostylis retusa is a flower symbol of the state of Assam ( India ). The plant is actively represented in the traditional culture of Assamese , who call it "kopou phul" ( কপৌ ফুল ). In Assam, orchids are grown as an ornamental plant, used in wedding ceremonies and as decorations [8] .
It is also widely used in local medicine [9] , for example, in the treatment of cuts and wounds [8] .
