Ship description

Sailing corvette, one of the four corvettes of the type "Kazan". The length of the vessel was 33.6 meters , width - 9.5 meters, and the draft - 3.8 meters. The armament of the ship consisted of 16 guns [1] [2] .

Service history

The corvette "Hercules" was laid in 1819 in the Kazan Admiralty and after launching on May 14, 1820 it became part of the Caspian Flotilla of Russia . The construction was conducted by the shipmaster S. O. Burachek [1] [2] .

In 1820, the internal routes were transferred from Kazan to Astrakhan . From 1821 to 1824 he went into practical navigation in the Caspian Sea . In 1825, he took part in the expeditions of Professor EI Eichwald , aimed at studying the fauna of the Caspian Sea, after which he was engaged to transport troops from Astrakhan to Baku . During the Russian-Persian war of 1826–28, he stood in Astrakhan [2] .

Corvette was dismantled in Astrakhan in 1831 [1] [2] .
